What is
direct care?

Direct care means a straightforward relationship between physician and patient — with no insurance companies involved. Dr. Katy Burris does not contract with any insurance plans.

This allows her to spend the time with you that you truly deserve, rather than the 5–10 minutes a traditional insurance-based visit affords. No rushed appointments. No compromises on care.

You pay directly for your visit, and in return you receive Dr. Katy Burris's full expertise, full attention, and all the time you need.

No insurance contracts

KB Dermatology does not contract with any insurance companies. Payment is made directly at the time of your visit.

More time with your doctor

Traditional insurance-based visits allow for just 5–10 minutes with your doctor. At KB Dermatology, you receive the time and expertise you need and deserve.

Superbills available on request

We can provide a coded receipt upon request, which you may submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

How a superbill
works.

If you have out-of-network benefits on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement for your visits. Upon request, KB Dermatology will provide you with a coded receipt — called a superbill — to submit to your insurer.

We cannot predict or guarantee whether or how much you will be reimbursed. We encourage you to contact your insurance company in advance to understand your out-of-network benefits.

1
Attend your appointment Pay for your visit at the time of service. Request a superbill from our office.
2
Receive your superbill We'll provide a coded receipt with the appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for your visit.
3
Submit to your insurer Send the superbill to your insurance company to request out-of-network reimbursement, if your plan allows it.
4
Receive reimbursement Your insurer will review and respond directly to you. Reimbursement amounts and eligibility vary by plan.

A few things to keep in mind.

Not all plans reimburse

Not all insurance companies allow reimbursement for out-of-network services. We recommend calling your insurer before your visit to understand your specific plan's rules.

Medicare & Medicaid

By law, Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries cannot submit for reimbursement for services received at a direct care practice. Please be aware of this if you hold either of these plans.

Extended appointments

If your appointment requires more time than originally scheduled, we are happy to extend it when possible and will charge the next applicable time slot. We always respect every patient's scheduled time.

Your Responsibility

It is your responsibility to understand and follow the reimbursement rules of your specific insurance plan. We are happy to answer questions — just reach out before your visit.

Cancellation Policy — Medical Visits

A cancellation fee of $200 will be charged for all medical visits cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. We kindly ask that you notify us as early as possible if you need to reschedule.

Cancellation Policy — Cosmetic Appointments

Cosmetic appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled service will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the service cost. This policy allows us to honor the time reserved for each patient.
